Frequently Asked Questions

» Is a trip planning service available in Portland Transit?
Currently, no. This feature is not available because TriMet does not provide a trip planning API. However, there are plans for this in the future. Stay tuned.
» Are route schedules (not real-time) available in Portland Transit?
Currently, no. This feature would be relatively simple to add — the only thing holding me back is the fact that the schedules, when in SQLite format (the ideal format for iPhone apps), are somewhere around 60MB. That’s horribly inconvenient for users to download, especially when not on Wi-Fi. If you can think of a better solution, please let me know.
» Is there a way to view only major stops in Portland Transit?
Yes, the option to view only major stops is available in the built-in Settings application, under the PDX Transit settings.
» Can I receive extra information about a stop with Portland Transit, such as latitude, longitude, and bus position?
Yes, this option is also available through the built-in Settings application.
» Does Portland Transit show any detours that may be in effect?
Yes. Whenever a detour is active on a stop, Portland Transit will display the text “Possible Detour” in red. Tapping this shows more information about the detour, including a list of affected routes.
» How much does Portland Transit cost?
Portland Transit costs $1.99 and can be downloaded on the App Store.
